Creation First Begins With Destruction

Recently I moved my mother into Assisted Living. Her home was tiled, had too many stairs and she was isolated. It was no longer a safe environment for her frail body and deteriorating memory. In spite of moving her into the best place the family could find, she was terrified and reluctant to go.

Change is not easy for anyone. It is tough to tear up roots, the familiar, the known.  Fear of the unknown is so deep and so terrifying that we would rather stay in a broken down home or a broken down relationship to avoid that which we don’t know.

The anxiety of the unknown can paralyze us if we allow it.  Giving in to anxiety keeps us stuck in what we perceive as comfort. But it is not comfort if the forces of the Universe, of God, is pulling us toward something else.

If we are to believe that life has meaning and that things happen for a reason, if we are to believe that things happen for our self-growth, then we must also believe that it is appropriate to let go and trust that we are being led to where we are meant to be. Flow with where the energy is leading you.  Release the old, the toxic, the energy that is no longer serving you. It feels like destruction. But really it is the fertilizer that will allow your new future to blossom and grow!

All too true, Joni. Thank you for the reminder.
You can’t swim to the other side of the pool without letting go of where you are. And, sometimes where you are is destructive and toxic, yet it is the “known”. Why is moving from destruction so difficult and scary? Perhaps it is because we often don’t realize we are existing in a poisonous and destructive environment.
